LIFE is the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental and nature conservation projects
Life is the most well-known European programme for environment protection. In more than 20 years of activity, it has funded thousands of projects, many of them in Italy.
“From Italy and Spain come the highest number of requests to participate in the programme”, explained Angelo Salsi, head of the Life project for the European Commission, to the Italian Euranet Plus partner station Radio 24 II Sole.
LIFE began in 1992 and to date LIFE has co-financed some 3,954 projects across the EU, contributing approximately 3.1 billion euros to the protection of the environment. For the period 2014-2020, the first invitations to participate have already been issued by the EU. (audio in Italian)
