Presidential candidates on campaign tour: Jean-Claude Juncker in Malta
As Portugal makes a clean exit from the EU bailout programme, the candidates to succeed current European Commission President José Manuel Barroso have come hunting for votes.
This week , the Socialists’ Martin Schulz will return to Lisbon and visit a German company on the outskirts of the capital, also stopping by an NGO in the Setúbal zone. He will meet with the leader of the largest party in the opposition, António José Seguro, who will join him on his campaign stop in Lisbon.
After Schulz, Jean-Claude Juncker is also expected in Lisbon on May 17 and 18. The leading candidate of the European People’s Party has not chosen these dates at random, explains Radio Renascença’s correspondent: On May 17, the troika will depart from Portugal. (audio in Portuguese)
